Once
an application reaches the patent pending stage,
it can be legally sold or licensed to another
party. Most
companies who are interested in purchasing
inventions want to do so while the patent is
pending. The
reason for this is that the company will have an
additional two years of pending time added onto
the standard eighteen years after the patent
issues. During
the patent pending stage, the company can begin
development and get a head start. If you license
your invention to a company while your patent is
pending, the company will pay the issuing fee. The
System explains the different ways to negotiate
the licensing or selling of your patent or getting
interest from prospects to sell your patent to.
